Amelia Bullock, a grand dame of Austin Real Estate:
Amelia was the founder of Amelia Bullock Realtors and is a grand dame of Austin real estate, having founded her residential real estate firm in 1969 and growing it from three friends working together into a prominent real estate company with more than 80 agents. Barbara Wallace is also a grand dame of Austin and the former co-owner of Amelia Bullock Realtors.
After launching a relocation division in 1976, Bullock’s firm helped sell many major tech companies on Austin — among them MCC, 3M, Lockheed Martin, Apple, IBM, Applied Materials and Texas Instruments — and find houses for their employees.
“They didn’t just watch Austin grow, they helped build it,” Wendy Purvey, chief marketing officer for Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates LLC, told the American-Statesman.
Amelia Bullock Realtors was recently acquired by Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty based in San Antonio.
