 September---The-Best-Time-to-Plant-a-Tree
It is safe to say that about 98 out of 100 people who have gotten into residential real estate, did not choose real estate as a first career. So we truly are a “melting pot” industry; and the transferrable skills new agents bring into our industry are broad, positive, and seemingly countless.

Many of those who get into real estate may have been prompted to do so due to changing life events, some of those events had created negative circumstances; nevertheless, a career in real estate provides the new agent the opportunity to rebound, and in many cases significantly. Success stories are more prominent than any others.

Our real estate industry is unique in many ways, but nothing more unique than our industry offering a person the opportunity to get into a new business with a relatively small investment in money and time insofar as their required education is concerned. You come to Champions, you study hard, you pass the state exam, you find the right sponsoring broker, then you enter into an industry that provides you the agent immediate access to a multi-billion dollar inventory with minimal further investment. The list of career opportunities such as offered in our industry is short. But there’s one fundamental essential to success in any field of endeavor; you have to go to work, and you have to be committed.

Dr. Nido Qubein said, “Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” And I find it interesting that Qubein’s words not only apply to those of us described above but to anyone who may have failed to launch in their new career, because their focus remains on where they are and where they’ve come from, rather than focusing on where they can go. A fundamental for success is positive and ambitious focus.

THE MOST important thing a new agent must do if they intend to succeed is to START, to begin, to engage in relationship building activities that serve to generate referrals which result in transactions closed. We understand this at Champions, we know full-well that the business of real estate sales is all about relationships, and this is why our commitment to education goes beyond the fundamentals of obtaining a real estate license; we strongly promote on-going education beyond TREC mandatory requirements in offering a range of Designation, Certification, and marketing classes. And on the personal and professional growth and development front, we have available the Champions School of Business Etiquette. What I have described here captures the essence of the Champion’s commitment to education and our industry; above all, the people who make up our industry.

One’s present circumstances merely represent the starting line of a metaphorical journey toward becoming more than they are now, and all that they can become. Your journey is your story to create, but you have to begin. I believe it was George Eliot who said, “It is never too late to become what you might have been,” but first you have to start, and do so with a positive attitude, focused NOT on the tales of what has been, or how it is today, but with a positive attitude focused on what it can be, and will be, once you decide to start.

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago; the next best time is now. NOW IS THE TIME !
